Rutgers Camden STEM Scholars Program

Description: The STEM Scholars Program awards two types of need-based scholarships:

Tenure Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year students who pursue a STEM major. Each Tenure Scholarship carries a monetary award of $3000 per year for up to 4 years (for a maximum of $12,000 per scholarship).

Annual Scholarships. These one-year scholarships are awarded to incoming transfer students and current students who pursue a STEM major. Each scholarship provides a one-time award of $3000. Former recipients may re-apply in subsequent years but in competition with other Annual Scholarship applicants.

Other Comments: Selection:  Students are selected on the basis of their past academic performance and potential, particularly in math and science, as well as other indicators of success as documented in the student's STEM Scholars Application form.

Academic Performance Requirements. To remain in the program, STEM Scholars must be continuously enrolled as a full-time STEM student, receive a grade of C or better in all courses, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

Eligibility Criteria:  To be eligible for a STEM Scholarship, the applicant must satisfy all of the following:

Admission to full-time enrollment in one of the following undergraduate STEM programs of the Camden College of Arts and Sciences: biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics.

Documented status as a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, refugee alien or permanent resident alien.

Demonstrated financial need, as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. This is determined by the Financial Aid Office upon receipt of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

All STEM scholarship awards are coordinated with the recipients' financial aid package, which is managed by the Financial Aid Office. In particular, the scholarship amounts given above represent the maximum amounts that recipients may receive. The actual amount awarded to a student may be lower, depending on the student's unmet need, after counting grants and other scholarships awarded to the student, as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
